Le Canvas Atelier
The Studio Boat, c. 1874 by Claude Monet – Soft Grey Blue Edition
The Studio Boat, by Claude Monet depicts the artist's floating atelier moored between two poles on the calm waters of the Seine near Argenteuil, its reflection mirrored in the still river alongside the autumn trees on the far bank. Monet (1840–1926), a founding figure of French Impressionism, built the boat so he could paint directly on the water, capturing the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere that defined his career.
Artist: Claude Monet (1840–1926). Date: c. 1874.
The Studio Boat. Historic French Impressionism Canvas Print.
A note on this reproduction: this print renders in soft, muted grey-blue tones, with the trees and water kept quiet and low in contrast.
