He planted the garden that he had painted.
Claude Monet, 1840-1926
In 1883 Monet moved into a house at Giverny, in Normandy. He laid out the flower beds himself and filled them with irises. Later he added a water garden, with a pond and a Japanese footbridge. He spent the rest of his life painting what he had planted. He never went looking for a subject. He made one, then painted it as the light moved across it. This is that garden in 1900. More of our collectors return to Monet than to any other artist.

ROOM BY ROOM
Start with the wall, not the painting.
In the entryway
Seen from three feet away, so detail reads and scale does not need to. Somewhere with a place in it — a coast, a harbour, a road you have driven.
COASTAL VIEWS
Over the bed
Quiet is the entire job. Botanicals sit above a headboard without competing with the room, and they take the low evening light better than anything else we print.
BOTANICAL
Along the stairs
A run of small pieces climbs a stair wall better than one large one ever will. Audubon engraved his birds as a series, which is exactly why they hang this way so easily.
AUDUBON PLATES
In the nursery
The one wall in the house that gets studied lying down. A submarine, a merfolk king, a whole court of mermaids — enough happening in it that a child finds something new for years.
NURSERY & KIDS
Behind the desk
The wall you look at all day, and the one that turns up on every call. Maps reward being read closely, which is the point of a wall you sit two feet from.

Our Floating FRAME FINISHES
FIVE FINISHES, ONE PROFILE
Every canvas is encased in a sleek, slim floater frame, featuring a subtle shadow gap at the edge to prevent the painting from directly touching the wood. The only variation lies in the finish, which can be black, white, gold, natural, or oak.
