The Studio Boat, painted by Claude Monet around 1874 shows the small green-cabined boat Monet converted into a floating studio, moored on the still waters near Argenteuil with autumn trees mirrored in the surface around it. Shortly after settling in Argenteuil, Monet outfitted the vessel so he could paint the riverbank directly from the water, a working method that shaped many of his celebrated river scenes during this pivotal early Impressionist period.
