Spring, Fruit Trees in Bloom (Arbres Fruitiers en Fleurs), c. 1873 by Claude Monet – Cool Grey Blue Edition
Spring, Fruit Trees in Bloom (Arbres Fruitiers en Fleurs), painted by Claude Monet around 1873 shows an orchard of flowering fruit trees scattered across a softly sunlit hillside near his home at Argenteuil. Clusters of white blossoms glow against fresh green grass and a pale lavender-blue sky, built up from quick, delicate strokes of pure color. Created during Monet’s Argenteuil period at the dawn of Impressionism, the painting later became the first Monet to enter the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Artist: Claude Monet (French, 1840-1926). Date: c. 1873.
