Study for Painting with White Form, by Wassily Kandinsky is an abstract composition of tangled black lines and loosely washed passages of blue, yellow, red, and green, created as a study toward Kandinsky's larger, more resolved painting of the same name. Kandinsky, the Russian-born painter (1866-1944) and pioneer of abstract art who co-founded the Munich-based Der Blaue Reiter group, made the original study in 1913; this print reproduces it as a 1960 offset lithograph published after his death in 1944, not an original period painting.
