Schematismus Geographiae Mathematicae, c. 1753 by Tobias Mayer gathers twenty-three engraved diagrams, celestial and terrestrial globes, an armillary sphere, a compass rose, and paired renderings of the Copernican and Tychonic planetary systems, designed to teach the mathematical principles behind maps and globes. Mayer drew the plate for Homann Heirs’ school atlas while working at the celebrated Nuremberg publishing house, and it became a standard visual primer for geography students across eighteenth century Europe.
