General Burgoyne Addressing the Indians, by J.C. Armytage depicts British General John Burgoyne gathering Native American leaders in June 1777 to enlist their support ahead of his campaign into New York's Hudson Valley, urging them to fight for the Crown while forbidding attacks on civilians. The engraving was created after a design by English painter Henry Warren, whose narrative history scenes were widely reproduced in 19th-century histories of the American Revolution.
