Field with Poppies, 1889 by Vincent van Gogh – Deep Teal Edition
Field with Poppies, painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1889 presents a sweeping Provençal meadow scattered with brilliant red poppies, viewed from an elevated vantage point near the Saint-Paul asylum at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Painted just after Van Gogh was first allowed to leave the asylum grounds in June 1889, the canvas is rendered in swirling, energetic brushwork and bold scarlet-and-green contrasts that mark one of his most vividly expressive Saint-Rémy landscapes.
Artist: Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890). Date: 1889.
