Camping in the Woods: A Good Time Coming, by A.F. Tait depicts a lakeside hunting camp deep in the Adirondack wilderness, where sportsmen and their dogs gather around a campfire to cook and share a meal beneath a lean-to shelter. Tait, an English-born American painter renowned for his outdoor sporting and wilderness scenes, supplied the original 1862 composition that Currier & Ives published as a hand-colored lithograph in 1863.
