Bellagio Promenade by Howard Behrens

Bellagio Promenade, by Howard Behrens depicts a sunlit lakeside walkway in the town of Bellagio on Italy's Lake Como, lined with flowering shrubs, cream-colored benches, and wrought-iron lampposts overlooking the water and distant hills. Behrens, an American landscape and seascape painter known as the leading figure of contemporary palette-knife Impressionism, built up the scene in thick layers of oil applied with a blade rather than a brush to capture the warmth of Mediterranean light.
