Autumn Birch Forest, by Graham Forsythe Vertical birch trunks rise against a field of blazing ochre, orange, and gold foliage, the colors blending and bleeding across the canvas in loose, expressive washes. Forsythe, a Canadian painter whose eyesight was restored by surgery in 1991, turned to painting soon after and became known for vibrant impressionistic landscapes and luminous abstracts inspired by the woodlands of his adopted country.
