Woman in a Landscape, painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in 1918, was created during his very last years at Les Collettes, his estate in Cagnes-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean coast. A seated woman in a straw hat and pale yellow dress nearly dissolves into the loosely brushed greenery and golden light of the surrounding garden, her form rendered with the same soft, glowing color that defines Renoir's late landscapes. Painted from his wheelchair in the last full decade of his life, the work captures Renoir's continued devotion to sunlit color and the human figure within nature even as his health declined.
Artist: Pierre-Auguste Renoir (French, 1841-1919). Date: 1918.
Woman in a Landscape, 1918 by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Late Impressionist Landscape Wall Art Canvas Print.
A note on this reproduction: this print renders in cooler, more muted tones, with softer, paler greens through the garden and a gentler overall palette. A warmer, more saturated reproduction of this same painting is also available in our collection.
