War-Dance of Bantu Tribesmen in the Ritual Compounds of the Zimbabwe Kingdom, c. 1968 by Look and Learn Magazine The illustration depicts a ceremonial war dance performed by Bantu warriors and nobility within a stone ritual compound of the historic Zimbabwe kingdom, gathered around the sacred drums of the tribe; the long feathered cloak worn by the central dancer marks him as a member of the nobility. First published in Look and Learn issue no. 330 (11 May 1968) as part of the magazine's "Story of Africa" series, the painting reflects the detailed narrative-history illustration style for which the British children's magazine was known.

Artist: Look and Learn Magazine (illustrator uncredited). Date: c. 1968.
