Mount Pisgah, Mauch Chunk, c. 1855, by James Fuller Queen depicts the Lehigh Canal winding through the coal town of Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania (now Jim Thorpe), with a horseback rider crossing a towpath bridge and canal boats moored below the switchback railway climbing Mount Pisgah in the distance. Rendered in graphite and charcoal, the drawing captures the industrial energy of the Lehigh Valley's anthracite boom.
Artist: James Fuller Queen (1820–1886). Date: c. 1855.
