The composition unfolds in dusty rose, slate grey, and silvery green tones, animated by the broken, atmospheric brushwork that filters distance through soft Parisian haze. Montmartre's quasi-rural lanes, vineyards, and panoramic vistas drew generations of Impressionists and would-be Impressionists to live and paint there.
