View from Cap Martin of Monte Carlo, painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in 1884 looks out from the pine-shaded promontory of Cap Martin across the glittering Mediterranean toward the white houses of Monte Carlo on the far headland. Rendered in vivid sea blues, bright greens, and warm golden light, the swift, broken brushwork reflects the joint Riviera painting campaign Renoir shared with Claude Monet during the winter of 1883-84. This reproduction reflects a brighter, more saturated color rendition of the scene; a second reproduction of the same painting, with softer, more muted color grading, is also available in the shop.
