The Vines at Cagnes, c. 1906, by Pierre-Auguste Renoir captures a sun-dappled vineyard in southern France, framed by twisting olive trees and a seated figure in red beneath their shade. Renoir (1841–1919), one of the leading figures of French Impressionism, painted this loose, luminous landscape during the years he began wintering near Cagnes-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean coast.
Artist: Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841–1919). Date: 1906.
