The Seine at Argenteuil (La Seine à Argenteuil), 1888 by Pierre-Auguste Renoir

The Seine at Argenteuil, painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in 1888, shows autumn foliage in gold and rust framing a calm bend of the river, a single sailboat drifting past the distant rooftops and spires of the town. Returning to a subject he had painted often in the 1870s, Renoir revisits Argenteuil more than a decade later with a warmer, more structured palette shaped by his intervening travels in Italy. The painting is now held in the Barnes Foundation collection in Philadelphia.

The Seine at Argenteuil (La Seine à Argenteuil), 1888 by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Impressionist River Wall Art Canvas Print.
A note on this reproduction: this print renders in cooler tones, with a more silvery-blue sky and slightly softer autumn foliage colors. A warmer, more golden reproduction of this same painting is also available in our collection.
