The Pink Orchard (Verger rose pâle), painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1888, portrays a grove of pale pink and white blossoming fruit trees under a soft spring sky in Arles, rendered in the loose, luminous brushwork Van Gogh developed soon after his arrival in Provence. Working at a feverish pace during the brief blossom season, he produced this canvas as part of a series of some fourteen orchard paintings completed within a single month. The delicate palette and airy, light-filled composition reveal the joyful optimism Van Gogh felt at the start of his celebrated Arles period.
