The Pike, engraved by Eleazar Albin presents a naturalist's profile of the freshwater predator, its golden-spotted flanks and sharp toothed jaw rendered in fine hand-colored linework against a plain riverside ground. The plate was created for A Treatise on Fish and Fish-ponds, part of the long English tradition pairing scientific observation with decorative engraving.

Artist: engraved by Eleazar Albin (English, c.1690-1741/42), published posthumously in 1832. This natural history plate is a shared-authorship compilation, credited on the print itself to "Eliza Albin."
