The Langlois Bridge – Vincent van Gogh Wall Art | Post-Impressionist Arles Canvas Print
Choose options
Vincent van Gogh's The Langlois Bridge depicts the drawbridge on the canal at Arles — a subject he returned to repeatedly during his 1888 stay in the city, producing at least four paintings and several drawings of this distinctive structure. The composition's bold horizontal and vertical lines, flat colour zones, and simplified perspective speak directly to his study of Japanese woodblock prints, and the bridge's reflection in the still canal water adds a note of quiet symmetry. One of the most distinctively elegant of all his Arles compositions.
