The Heights of Trouville – Pierre-Auguste Renoir Wall Art | Impressionist Coastal Canvas Print
Choose options
Painted during one of Renoir's coastal sojourns in Normandy, The Heights of Trouville looks down from the cliffs above the fashionable Channel resort toward the broad estuary of the Touques and the open sea beyond. The composition unfolds in cool blues, fresh greens, and warm ivory tones, animated by the rapid, broken brushwork that defined Renoir's plein-air manner. Trouville and neighboring Deauville had drawn the Impressionists since Boudin and Monet first painted there, and Renoir joined that tradition with a sun-washed view of the elevated dunes and pastures above the town. The work stands as a luminous testament to the Impressionist fascination with the wide horizons of the Norman coast.
