The Cunarder Mauretania by Fred J. Hoertz

The Cunarder Mauretania, by Fred J. Hoertz depicts the celebrated RMS Mauretania cutting through open water beneath a hazy sky, her four raked funnels trailing smoke in the streamlined poster style of early twentieth-century transatlantic travel advertising. Hoertz, an American poster and maritime artist active from the late 1910s onward, was known for his ocean-liner commissions for lines including Cunard, capturing the speed and prestige of the great steamships in bold, graphic compositions.
