The Oregon Trail, Cherokee Pass, Rocky Mountains, c. 1859 by Daniel A. Jenks depicts a rugged dirt trail winding through snow-dusted pine forest toward a narrow mountain pass in the Rocky Mountains of present-day Colorado. Jenks sketched the scene while traveling overland from Pawtucket, Rhode Island toward the Pike's Peak gold fields, one of twenty-four drawings he made to illustrate his 1859 journey along the trail.
