Road toward the Farm Saint-Siméon, Honfleur (Route de la Ferme Saint-Siméon), painted by Claude Monet in 1867 follows a snow-covered country road as it recedes diagonally past a wooden fence toward the distant farm. A man with a walking stick and a woman carrying a bag trudge along the verge while fresh wheel tracks curve through the bright snow under a wintry gray sky. Monet painted this road near Honfleur at least ten times between 1864 and 1867, an early serial study of a single motif, and this winter canvas now hangs in the Harvard Art Museums.
Artist: Claude Monet (French, 1840-1926). Date: 1867.
