The plate is captioned “Façade Postérieure” and carries the credit “Charles Garnier Archte” beneath the image; it belongs to the atlas of Le Nouvel Opéra de Paris, the monograph by the French architect Charles Garnier (1825-1898) issued by Ducher et Cie, Paris, in 1880, whose plates were drawn and engraved after Garnier’s designs by a team of artists.
