Olive Trees with Yellow Sky and Sun, 1889 by Vincent van Gogh
Choose options
Olive Trees with Yellow Sky and Sun, painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1889, depicts a grove of gnarled olive trees beneath a radiant, swirling yellow sky with a brilliant sun at its center. Painted during his time at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, it is the only painting in Van Gogh's extensive olive tree series to include a sun, standing as a daylight counterpart to his more famous The Starry Night. Now held in the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the canvas channels the same restless, expressive brushwork into a vision of Provençal light and heat.
Artist: Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890). Date: 1889.
Olive Trees with Yellow Sky and Sun, 1889 by Vincent van Gogh. Post-Impressionist Provençal Landscape Canvas Print.
A note on this reproduction: this print renders in richly saturated golden-yellow tones throughout the sky and ground, a warmer and more intense treatment than other color-graded reproductions of this same painting in our collection.
