Cool blues and greens dissolve into a soft glow where the rising sun burns through the dawn fog beside Giverny. Worked up from the floating studio Monet moored on the water, the canvas belongs to his celebrated Mornings on the Seine series, in which he tracked one view through the shifting light of daybreak.
