Mademoiselle Gachet in Her Garden at Auvers-sur-Oise, painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1890, captures Marguerite Gachet, daughter of his physician Dr. Paul Gachet, dressed in white and tending the flowers of the family garden in Auvers-sur-Oise during the final weeks of his life. Painted with the vivid palette and dense, confident brushwork of his late period, the picture shows Marguerite half-hidden among tall grasses and blossoms, a sunlit vision of quiet domestic contentment. It remains one of the most intimate and personally resonant works of his brief but extraordinarily productive Auvers period.
