Libra Constellation Star Map, c. 1824 by Sidney Hall

Libra Constellation Star Map, by Sidney Hall presents the zodiacal constellation Libra as a set of golden scales set against the surrounding star groups of Serpens, Virgo, Scorpio, and Hydra, with each star labeled by its traditional designation and Arabic star names such as Zuben Es Chamali and Zuben el Genubi. Hall, a British engraver active in London in the early 19th century (1788–1831), engraved this plate for the celebrated 1824 star atlas “Urania’s Mirror,” rendering the heavens as a set of hand-colored constellation cards intended for astronomical study.
