Monet worked in the park during the spring of 1876, turning his rapid, broken brushwork on the interplay of dappled light, deep green foliage and glimpses of elegant facades beyond the trees. These Parc Monceau views anticipate the garden subjects that would come to dominate his later career at Giverny.
