Interior of a Restaurant, painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1887, depicts a sunlit Parisian dining room set with white tablecloths, bentwood chairs, and small bouquets of flowers arranged like floral still lifes on each table, rendered in Van Gogh’s own loosely pointillist technique of dabs and short dashes. Painted during his two-year stay in Paris, the work reflects his growing engagement with Neo-Impressionist color theory, pairing complementary reds and greens in the walls with warm yellow-orange furniture. The painting has belonged to the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, the Netherlands, since the early twentieth century.
