Lilies, from an untitled series of Large Flowers, by Katsushika Hokusai, depicts pale cream and apricot lily blossoms on slender stems with dark green leaves, rendered against a soft blue-green ground, with the artist's signature and seal at right. It belongs to the same untitled series of large-format flower prints Hokusai produced around 1833-34, pairing close observation of a single plant with the restrained, decorative composition typical of his late-career botanical studies.
