Glade, by Pierre-Auguste Renoir depicts a sun-dappled clearing among slender trees beneath a blue-violet hill, rendered in a shimmering haze of golden yellows, warm pinks and soft greens that dissolves the landscape into light and color. Renoir (French, 1841-1919) painted it in his late years, and it is held at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, one of the premier collections of his work.
