Falling Leaves (Les Alyscamps), 1888 – Vincent van Gogh Wall Art | Post-Impressionist Autumn Canvas Print
Choose options
Painted in November 1888 during Paul Gauguin's visit to Arles, Vincent van Gogh's Falling Leaves (Les Alyscamps) captures the ancient Roman necropolis of Les Alyscamps at the height of autumn, the avenue of poplars ablaze with gold and copper foliage against a deep blue sky, fallen leaves carpeting the path below in a composition of ravishing autumnal colour. The subject was painted simultaneously by both Van Gogh and Gauguin during their brief but historically momentous collaboration in Arles, making it one of the most significant works of Van Gogh's Arles period. Now widely held in museum collections, the work is among the most beloved of all his autumn subjects. A sumptuously coloured and historically resonant work for any interior drawn to the heights of Post-Impressionism.
