Edinburgh from the Ascent to Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh, Scotland, 1832 by Robert Batty presents a dramatic panorama of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Castle as seen from the rocky slopes of Arthur's Seat, with grazing sheep and shafts of sunlight breaking through a passing storm over the city and the Firth of Forth beyond. Batty was a British army officer and amateur artist (1789–1848) who traveled the Continent and the British Isles sketching topographical views later published as engravings.
