Dunluce Castle, by William Henry Bartlett depicts the dramatic ruins of Dunluce Castle perched on a rocky headland above the sea in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, its broken towers rising through mist as seabirds wheel over the cliffs below. Bartlett (1809–1854) was one of the foremost English topographical illustrators of his era, travelling widely for publisher George Virtue to produce steel engravings of Ireland's most romantic ruins and landscapes.
