Cap Martin, 1884 – Claude Monet Wall Art | Impressionist Mediterranean Coast Canvas Print
Choose options
Painted in 1884, Claude Monet's Cap Martin captures the celebrated Riviera promontory between Menton and Monte Carlo, where pine trees descend to the limestone shore above the deep blue Mediterranean. The canvas belongs to the painter's sustained Bordighera–Cap Martin campaign of that year, his first prolonged engagement with the southern light he had glimpsed the previous winter on his journey south with Renoir, and a defining episode in the expansion of his palette toward the more saturated chromatic register of the years that followed. A historically significant and atmospherically luminous work for any interior drawn to French Impressionism.
