Blue and Teal Blossoms by Silvia Vassileva

Blue and Teal Blossoms, by Silvia Vassileva layers large, overlapping blossoms in sky blue, teal, and deep navy over a distressed cream and pale-ochre ground, with olive-green leaves, rust-brown stamens, and dark berried stems threaded between them. The composition is purely botanical, its petals built in closely keyed hues so the bloom reads as pattern before it reads as flower. Vassileva is a contemporary painter whose decorative floral and botanical work is widely published as fine-art editions, and this work is also published under the title Peacock Garden.
