Flowers and plants across five centuries — Renaissance herbal studies, Impressionist gardens, contemporary flower painting, and close botanical photography. The garden, held still.
Fields come first: sunflowers under storm clouds and at sunset, Texas bluebonnets, a desert superbloom, Carmel’s calla lily valley and avenues of pink blossom. Close studies follow — a pink dahlia, a peach rose, a red rose with morning dew, purple crocus, plumeria and succulents — with painted work such as Carol Rowan’s Kathleen’s Geraniums and Richard Wallich’s golden sunflower.
For a quieter, more classic look there are vintage specimen charts, antique leaf illustrations on navy, a vintage magnolia and amaryllis, and the Luxembourg Garden in Paris. Botanical prints work well in kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, and as a calm counterweight on a busy gallery wall.
