Bal du Moulin de la Galette, c. 1876 by Pierre-Auguste Renoir captures a sun-dappled Sunday afternoon at the open-air dance garden in Montmartre, with couples waltzing beneath the trees and friends gathered in the foreground. Renoir painted it at the height of Impressionism, and it is now considered one of the movement’s supreme masterpieces, held in the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
