The Nude in the Grass, a Pierre-Auguste Renoir painting from his mature bather period, is presented here as a fine art canvas reproduction within its original academic nude tradition. A single bather reclines amid sunlit grass and foliage, her form built from the velvety, fused brushwork Renoir developed for his late nudes, indebted to Titian and the Renaissance figural tradition he studied closely. From the mid-1880s onward, Renoir returned repeatedly to the theme of the bather resting in an Arcadian landscape setting.
