Choose options
The Duck Pond, painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in 1873, captures a sun-dappled farm pond ringed with foliage at Argenteuil, ducks gliding across rippled water beneath a soft summer sky. Worked in fresh greens, silvery blues, and warm ivory with the rapid, broken brushwork Renoir was developing alongside Claude Monet that same summer, the canvas is one of a pair of landscapes Renoir painted during a single excursion with Monet along the Seine, now held at the Dallas Museum of Art. The work stands among the founding images of Impressionism's pursuit of light and movement on water.
