Spring, Fruit Trees in Bloom (Arbres Fruitiers en Fleurs), painted by Claude Monet in 1873 shows an orchard of flowering fruit trees scattered across a warm, sunlit hillside near his home at Argenteuil. Clusters of white blossoms glow against fresh spring grass and a clear pale sky, built up from quick, delicate strokes of pure color. Created during Monet’s Argenteuil period at the dawn of Impressionism, the painting later became the first Monet to enter the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
