Snow-Covered Landscape (Paysage de Neige), painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in c. 1875, shows the same quiet winter clearing as Renoir's small snowscape at the Musée de l'Orangerie: bare trees bend over a snow-covered field, distant rooftops catch pale winter sunlight through the branches, and the snow itself is built from blues, lavenders, and warm ochres rather than plain white. Renoir painted during the exceptionally cold winter of 1874-75, one of the only periods in his career when he turned to snow as a subject, having little natural affinity for a whited-out landscape. This listing draws on a separate photographic pass of the same small painting.

Artist: Pierre-Auguste Renoir (French, 1841-1919). Date: c. 1875.

Snow-Covered Landscape (Paysage de Neige), c. 1875 by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Winter Impressionist Canvas Print.

A note on this reproduction: this print renders in cooler, bluer tones, with a crisp pale-blue sky and grey-toned branches, the distant rooftops reading crisp and clearly defined. Other reproductions of this same painting, with slightly different color rendering, are also available in our collection.
