Painted in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in May 1890 in anticipation of his discharge from the asylum, Vincent van Gogh's Roses presents a bouquet of white roses in full bloom, rendered in his characteristic swirling brushwork with a palette of extraordinary delicacy and freshness that marks it as among the most tenderly beautiful of all his floral paintings.
