Reclining Nude by Pierre-Auguste Renoir

Reclining Nude, a Pierre-Auguste Renoir painting from his mid-1880s period, is presented here as a fine art canvas reproduction within its original academic nude tradition. A figure lies on her side atop a grassy coastal bluff, one arm raised to gather her hair, gazing toward the sea. Renoir composed the work as a loose homage to Ingres's Grande Odalisque, set instead against an Impressionist rendering of the Channel coast, from a period when he was moving toward firmer drawing while still working in bright, broken color.
