Houses on the Achterzaan – Claude Monet Wall Art | Early Impressionist Dutch Waterfront Canvas Print
Choose options
Claude Monet's Houses on the Achterzaan belongs to the small group of canvases painted during the painter's productive sojourn in Zaandam, near Amsterdam, during the summer and early autumn of 1871. The Achterzaan — a tributary of the Zaan river — with its waterfront houses, working mills, and reflective surfaces, gave Monet some of his earliest sustained engagement with northern light and Dutch maritime architecture. A historically distinctive and atmospherically restrained work for any interior drawn to the early years of French Impressionism.
