Painted in 1910 at his beloved property Les Collettes in Cagnes-sur-Mer on the Côte d'Azur, Pierre-Auguste Renoir's Collettes Farmhouse captures the farmhouse and its surrounding olive groves in the warm, richly golden palette of his late southern period. Renoir had purchased the Les Collettes estate in 1907 specifically to save its ancient olive trees from being cut down, and the farm buildings and garden became among his most frequently painted subjects in his final decade.
