The Great Bathers, painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir around 1918-1919, is presented here as a fine art canvas reproduction within its original academic nude tradition. Two figures recline in the foreground of a sunlit landscape, with two further bathers at a stream in the middle distance, rendered in the broad, richly colored brushwork of the artist's final years. Now held in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the painting is considered Renoir's pictorial testament, completed only months before his death in December 1919, reflecting his lifelong admiration for the classical nude tradition of Titian and Rubens.
